We had some lovely feedback recently from Pari who attended Creech Medical Centre to shadow colleagues there with a view to pursing a career in medicine.

Pari told us “I had the opportunity to complete a five-day work experience placement at Creech Medical Centre in Somerset. During this time, I gained valuable insight into medicine as a career by shadowing three different GPs, as well as a Healthcare Assistant, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacist, Reception Supervisor and Medical Secretary. I also observed a GP while they completed clinical administration tasks, including laboratory filing and medication requests, and learned about mandatory training, policies, and practice processes. Attending the morning practice huddles further enhanced my understanding of how the team works collaboratively to deliver patient care.

This experience gave me a clear and realistic understanding of life as a doctor and highlighted how rewarding the profession can be. It strengthened my passion for pursuing a career in medicine, and I am now in my first year studying Medicine at the University of Leicester.

I would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Creech Medical Centre, and everyone involved in organising and supporting my GP shadowing work experience, for providing me with this valuable opportunity.”
