Apprenticeship Opportunities

How apprenticeships work

Your training will normally be delivered in partnership with local training providers and you will be based at a practice to obtain hands on practical skills and experience.

You will study for a nationally recognised qualification, usually to NVQ2 level and you’ll receive competitive rates of pay above the national minimum apprenticeship wage with opportunities for pay progression.

Typical apprenticeships include Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 and Health Care Assistant Level 2.

What we are looking for

We look for the following attributes in all of our apprentices:

  • Willingness and ability to learn

You’ll need the focus to learn vocational skills and follow academic courses too. You must have five GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English or willingness to achieve functional skills if GCSE’s are not achieved

  • Safe working

We’re committed to the safety of our patients and employees in the workplace. So you need to be able to take instructions, and to think and plan your work with safety as a priority.

  • Confidentiality

Much of the information we deal with is confidential so you must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the importance of confidentiality and adhere to the principles of data protection and security.

  • Respect for others

Most of your working life will be spent working as part of a team. So you need to be considerate and respectful towards other people.

  • Self-disciplined and motivated

You’ll need to be reliable and able to motivate yourself, while taking pride in delivering a high-quality service to our patients.

If you think you’ve got the qualities we’re looking for, get in touch and find out about starting your journey with SHS.
