As a subsidiary of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, we were very pleased to learn that their chief executive, Peter Lewis, has been named as 6th in the Health Service Journal’s top 50 healthcare leaders, by a team of leading figures in and around the health sector.
Over the last few years, Peter has played an important role in bringing together mental health, community and acute services under one NHS trust, with two mergers in the last five years. He’s also played a part in the development of Open Mental Health , where Somerset was the first healthcare system in England to enter a formal partnership and alliance with voluntary, charitable and third sector organisations to provide community mental healthcare services to patients across the county.
